Critique on Senior Work So Far

Yesterday I had a critique on 2 figure drawing pieces, my independent piece (the rice and "stew sauce") and my metal piece. I feel like it didn't go well at all. I was very cranky in the morning and I didn't want to be the first to put up my work (to be critiqued). I feel like if I had been chosen for a later time then I would have been more awake and ready to say a lot about my work. I'm assuming that because I didn't say a lot about my work for the 1st 2 questions I was asked, people didn't give me as much advice. A lot of advice was another thing I really wanted from the critique. Hopefully for the next critique, regardless of how I feel in the morning or when I get picked, I will have a better attitude and the critique will feel more useful.

Newest Piece in Progress

Once again, we're creating pieces based on the theme "food" and my newest piece, I have decided is going to be rice and red stew sauce. The rice is a metaphor for loniless. I feel like, rice is a food that longs to be with something else, because people always eat rice allong with another food. Therefore, my piece will have rice and red stew sauce because rice slowly soaks up stew sauce as if it wants to become one with it. The media I will be using is water color, since that is a media I feel that I need to grow in and it would be perfect for representing a food that is supposed to be soaking in another food. My scale will be extremely close up, probably about 6-8 rice grains taking up one large sheet of paper. The reason for this is because, rice is so small and intricate that it would take more than the time given for this project to paint a large amount of rice grains. I hope this project turns out well!

This is my metal piece in progress. Something I have done well so far with this piece is drawing with perfect proportions. Something that I'm working on is time management.
